If your clients dream of indulging in silky-smooth skin from head to toe, there’s no better way to satisfy this desire than a full-body wax. A full-body wax eliminates unwanted hair from the entire body at once vs individual appointments. As waxing specialists, this is one luxury service to put on the menu! Join us for a complete guide to what's included in a full-body wax.

What areas are included in a full body wax?

A full-body wax includes all the major treatment areas clients usually request during sessions. Here’s a general list of the highlights:

Arms

From thin, wispy strands to thick, coarse hairs, arm hair can affect your clients’ confidence levels and distract them from what really matters. But full-body waxing also includes arm waxing, which eliminates hair from the fingers to the upper arm.

Legs

Shaving your legs might feel like a rite of passage, but it tends to become a major hassle once you leave the honeymoon phase. Naturally, leg waxing includes hair removal on the thighs, lower legs, and feet.

Underarms

Underarm waxing is also included in the typical full-body wax and removed using hard wax rather than soft strip wax. Remind your clients to avoid deodorant on the day of their session to encourage effective hair removal.

Bikini area

The bikini line is another target area during full-body waxes. Clients can usually request additional hair removal, including a full Brazilian wax, to maximize their results and ensure a silky-smooth intimate area.

Back and chest

Men and women alike can eliminate soft, fluffy peach fuzz and robust, coarse hairs from the back and chest with a comprehensive full-body wax.

Optional areas

Facial waxing, including the eyebrows and upper lip, is usually available upon request. Clients can also choose to remove unwanted hair from their butt, neck, ears, and nose.

What are the benefits of a full-body wax?

Now that you understand what a full-body wax entails, let’s discuss the benefits of this all-encompassing service!

Exfoliates and smooths skin

Rough, bumpy skin is a common complaint, especially on the arms, legs, and pubic area. A full-body wax can strip away dead skin cells to reveal healthy, youthful skin beneath. Soft strip wax tends to adhere to skin as well as hair for thorough exfoliation. However, hard wax can also remove superficial dead skin.

Reduced hair growth

Over time, wax may inhibit hair follicles to reduce overall hair growth. It’s important to maintain a consistent schedule to encourage reduced growth. When hair grows back, each strand will be thinner and finer than the blunt stubble that appears after shaving. As such, it should be less noticeable as it regrows to the minimum length for waxing.

Longer-lasting results

A consistent full-body wax routine can also help you enjoy soft, smooth skin even longer between sessions. As you remove unwanted hair from the root on a regular basis, your hair growth cycles will synchronize, and you’ll see slower regrowth after each waxing treatment.

Full body wax aftercare tips

Waxing the entire body can streamline hair removal and give your clients weeks of touchable skin, but it’s essential to share proper techniques to help them care for their skin in the days after treatment, prevent ingrown hairs, and soothe irritation.

Avoid harsh products

Waxing inhibits the skin’s moisture barrier, increasing the risk of burning, stinging, and irritation. Your clients’ skin will be more sensitive to harsh exfoliants, acids, and alcohol-based toners.

Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers

If harsh skincare products are off-limits, what should your clients use after a full-body wax? A simple routine including a gentle cleanser, fragrance-free moisturizer, and mineral sunscreen should keep skin hydrated without promoting irritation and inflammation.

Stay out of the sun

A wax also increases photosensitivity, so skin is more likely to burn when exposed to UV rays. Encourage clients to avoid direct sunlight for at least 48 hours, wear loose, breathable, protective clothing, and use broad-spectrum sunscreen containing soothing zinc oxide if they must go outside.

Avoid swimming and excessive sweating

Skin is more susceptible to harmful bacteria after waxing, so clients should avoid swimming pools, open bodies of water, and even their own sweat in the first 24 to 48 hours after a full-body wax. Remind them to skip the gym and opt for a light walk instead.
