Brazilian Wax After 2 Weeks: Is It Okay To Do?

A regular Brazilian waxing schedule can help you get the long-lasting results you want. 2 weeks is a bit too short to plan for your next Brazilian wax, and isn't...

If the appearance of stubble makes you want to run back to your esthetician a couple of weeks after your last appointment, a regular Brazilian waxing schedule can help you get the long-lasting results you want. While it’s tempting to remove regrowth as soon as it appears, it may not be the best solution.

Join us as we discuss the optimal timeline for maintaining your Brazilian wax, plus a few aftercare tips to keep you smoother for longer.

Is it okay to get a Brazilian wax every 2 weeks?

It sounds simple enough, right? Your hair begins to grow back after a couple of weeks, so you should be able to wax again. However, 2 weeks is a bit too short to plan for your next Brazilian wax, and isn't recommended. Here are a couple of reasons to consider as to why:

What to expect with a Brazilian wax after 2 weeks

After about two weeks, you’ll likely begin noticing fresh hairs popping back up around your pubic area. After all, hair grows in cycles, and they won’t all be in the same phase at the same time. In fact, you might find that new strands appear only days after your Brazilian wax. This has nothing to do with your esthetician’s skill set — it’s just part of the process.

When you implement a regular waxing schedule, your hairs will slowly begin to sync up, and you’ll likely need to wax less frequently.

Does hair grow back thicker after a Brazilian wax?

Despite this pervasive myth, hair does not grow back thicker after waxing. You might even find that your hair grows back thinner and finer than before your first session. In some cases, individual strands may come back slightly more coarse, but that isn’t typical.

Maintaining a Brazilian wax

Proper maintenance and aftercare will ensure the best results from your Brazilian waxing appointment. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Brazilian wax aftercare

Redness, tender skin, and mild inflammation are all common following a Brazilian wax, but proper aftercare can soothe these symptoms.

Immediately after your appointment, you can take Tylenol and use a cold compress to alleviate any discomfort. For 24 to 48 hours following treatment, you’ll want to avoid excess heat and sweating, as well as friction around your pubic area. Skip the gym, avoid sexual activity, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing to allow your skin to breathe and heal.

Next, it’s essential to keep your skin hydrated. Use a fragrance-free moisturizer, and be sure to drink plenty of water. Once any irritation subsides — usually within a few days — it’s time to start exfoliating. Use a gentle exfoliating cloth or scrub to lightly slough off dead skin cells. This will help prevent painful ingrown hairs from forming.

Finally, go ahead and schedule your next appointment to begin a steady hair removal regimen. Consistency is key, so be proactive about your schedule!

How long should a Brazilian wax last?

In general, you can expect the results of your Brazilian wax to last three to six weeks. Of course, this depends on many factors, such as your hair growth rate and how long you’ve been on a consistent waxing schedule.

Remember, new hairs may appear only days after your appointment. But once you’ve had several consecutive appointments, you’ll begin seeing fewer stragglers like this.

Brazilian wax vs shaving

It might be tempting to shave between Brazilian waxing appointments, but this can negatively impact the results of your next session. You need about a quarter-inch of growth for wax to adhere to each strand, so shaving will result in more of those pesky hairs popping up a few days after your next treatment.

We totally get it — the whole point of Brazilian waxing is to enjoy smooth, supple, hair-free results. And you’ll get there, but first, you need to remove as many hairs as possible from the root. If you stay consistent, your patience will pay off.

How often should you get Brazilian wax?

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline for Brazilian waxing schedules because no two bodies are the same. Here are a couple of factors that can help you determine an optimal timeline:

Consider regular waxing

As we’ve mentioned, consistency will help you achieve the results you want from your Brazilian waxing routine. Your individual hairs will eventually start to sync up, so your smooth, stubble-free skin will last longer. We suggest starting with appointments every three to six weeks and adjusting as needed.

Schedule according to hair growth

The most important factor to consider when determining your waxing schedule is your hair growth rate. Many factors — from your diet to genetics — can impact how quickly your regrowth reaches a quarter-inch in length. You might find that after a few regular Brazilian waxing appointments your sessions are more effective, and your results last longer.
