Interview with Kiana Doe
@kultureclubwaxstudio | Meridian, Idaho | 9-Year Esthetician
Q: Tell us about your journey into esthetics. How did you get to where you are today and why did you stick to waxing?
A: When I was in high school, I got obsessed with makeup and wanted to do it professionally. So I decided to go to cosmetology school to learn everything! Once I got there, I absolutely fell in love with waxing and knew that was my true passion.

I perfected my skills and sought out to find a company that aligned with my core values. I worked for a waxing franchise that empowered women to be their own boss and gain skills to become a successful entrepreneur. There I was a waxer, a leader, and a trainer. I worked my way up and even worked for their corporate training team, where I got to travel around the country and help open new locations. That was so much fun!
I learned so much while working for that company and it allowed me to grow my own skills as a business leader. Waxing is something that I feel I was always meant to do, and I can’t see myself doing anything else!
Q: You have such a warm and confident presence. How do you create a safe, empowering space for your clients?
A: Making people feel comfortable in the most vulnerable situations can be hard to do for some, but it comes so naturally to me. My motto is: how you treat anyone is how you treat everyone.

An appointment with me isn’t just waxing and making you feel smooth—it’s a whole experience. It starts from the moment you walk into my suite. I’ve curated an environment tailored to fit each guest’s needs and personalities. We can have a nice chill atmosphere or be belly-laughing by the end of the service (most services end this way regardless).
And it doesn’t stop there. Choosing a wax and brand that fits my personality and experience was key to tie everything together. People stay for the experience and come back because of the wax.
Q: How do you stay educated and inspired as a beauty professional for 9 years?
A: Funny that you ask! I’m also an esthetics instructor at one of the local schools, and that really keeps me up to date on new techniques, products, and educational materials.

I also make sure to participate in many continuing education programs and classes. I’m such a learner—there is no limit to the things I can know. Our industry is constantly changing, and keeping up with it is key to having a successful business. I call myself a sponge because I just love soaking up new ideas as well as tips and tricks from other estheticians!
Q: What’s your current beauty product obsession (outside of what you offer)?
A: My current obsession is the Hale & Hush Charcoal Clarifying Mask. Not only is it great for breakouts, but it smells sooo good!!

Q: What’s one thing clients say during their appointment that always cracks you up?
A: Oh wow, what a great question!!
Honestly, when people find out that I wax all genders, fully body—the reactions I get from my guests make me giggle. It’s so normal for me to wax any and everyone. I always tell people it’s like checking my emails at a corporate gig. I do it every day, and I’m never phased! lol
